The project was originally funded under the Co-operative Plan Bee campaign.

Beekeeping training for local volunteers was provided by Urban Bees.

The Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park have provided space in the park and training facilities.

Why are we keeping bees?

Bees don’t just make honey, they pollinate a third of the food we eat. Unfortunately, honeybee numbers have fallen by up to 30% in recent years.

By keeping bees in the park we hope to provide a haven for them. The park also benefits as the bees pollinate flowering plants while they are foraging for food.
